Dirtwork Digital
About

I'm Chris. I build websites for people who move dirt.

I live in Cass Lake, Minnesota, about a mile from a gravel pit and twenty minutes from the excavator who put in my neighbor's septic.

I do not run iron for a living, but I run it. The Bobcat in these photos is mine: an S650 for moving rock and dirt around the place, and a 743 I am rebuilding with the engine out. I like this work and the people who do it, which is most of why the agency ended up here.

I run Minnesota Marketing, a small agency that builds websites and lead follow-up for local companies. A few years in, the jobs I liked most were the dirt-work ones: photo-rich, honest, and easy to tell whether the site was doing its job, because the owner would tell you what the phone was doing.

So that is what Dirtwork Digital is. One person. I do the review, write the copy, build the site, set up the tracking, and answer the phone afterward. There is no account manager between you and the person doing the work.

I have built and manage more than 40 websites for trade businesses, most of them in northern Minnesota. The three most recent dirt-work builds are on this site with their numbers. Shepard Excavating in Laporte, septic and excavating, family-owned since 1997. New Wave Concepts in Cape Coral, Florida, demolition and site services. Storlie Construction here in Cass Lake, three generations of gravel and site work. Two more redesigns are in the queue. You can call any of the owners and ask what it was like.

I also build for garage door companies under a separate brand, which is where the free-review process and the published prices came from. They work there. They work better here, because your photos are better.

Why this trade

Your photos are better than anyone's.

A plumber's van is a van. A D6 pushing a building pad at sunset is a website waiting to happen. Most of the sites in this trade throw that away and use the same stock photo of a stranger in a hard hat. I would rather use yours.

When a client does not have the photos, we make them. The aerials of Shepard's lakeshore lot and their Deere on the power rake were shot and produced by Minnesota Marketing for Shepard Excavating in August 2026, and they are on this site with their permission.

What I promise
  • You see your homepage before you pay the balance.
  • You own the finished site. Care is month to month, and the transfer path is in writing.
  • No surprise add-ons. Extra pages are $250 each and you approve them first.
  • The build is paid in two steps: 50% to schedule it, then 50% after you approve the homepage direction and before launch.
  • On ads, you pay Google directly, the account is yours, and the fee is flat.
What I don't
  • I don't promise rankings.
  • I don't promise a number of leads or a cost per call.
  • I don't sell shared leads. I improve how your own calls and inquiries are captured and followed up.

Every result on this site carries a date and a source, so you can judge it yourself.
